Perimenopause Nurse Coach · Sydney & Telehealth
I know what it feels like to not be believed, even by yourself.
My Story
I started perimenopause at 35.
My first symptoms were a frozen shoulder and genitourinary issues that were put down to having had three children. Nobody connected the dots. Nobody looked at the bigger picture. I was a critical care nurse. I understood bodies, I understood systems. And still, I was dismissed.
By 41, my ADHD symptoms had intensified in ways I couldn't explain. The brain fog was relentless. Word retrieval, once effortless, became a daily battle. I was exhausted, in pain, sleeping badly, and so irritable and overwhelmed that the smallest thing would floor me. I was starting to doubt myself as a nurse.
That was the scary part. If I, with all my clinical training, couldn't make sense of what was happening to me, what chance did other women have?
That question changed the direction of my career entirely.
The Nordic Philosophy
Lagom
not too much, not too little. Just right.
I was born in Sweden to a Swedish father and Icelandic mother. I grew up with a particular relationship to the body, one rooted in nature, simplicity, and balance.
In Swedish, we have a word: lagom. It doesn't translate directly into English, but the closest meaning is not too much, not too little. Just right. It is a philosophy of balance, of sufficiency, of not overcomplicating what doesn't need to be complicated.
That word governs how I work.
I am not going to hand you a 47-point wellness plan and send you home overwhelmed. We take one step at a time, in the right direction, at a pace that is sustainable for your actual life. Fresh air, clear thinking, no fuss, no beating around the bush. Pragmatic, warm, and always honest.
AK Nordic Wellness is built on that foundation: clinical rigour and Scandinavian simplicity, working together.
The Process
What Working With Me Looks Like
Our first session is yours. You talk, I listen. Properly, without watching the clock. We go through your history, what bothers you most, what you've already tried, who you've seen, what's worked and what hasn't. From there, we identify your biggest pain point and start there.
Then we look at the why. Why your body is responding the way it is. What habits may need to shift, and what education might fill the gaps, particularly around complex conditions like MCAS that many practitioners are still unfamiliar with.
When you're ready, we set goals together. We workshop the barriers before they become setbacks. I send you a written summary after every session so nothing is lost. We meet again in two to four weeks depending on where you are.
The best results come from working together over three months. That's enough time to build real consistency, troubleshoot setbacks, and make changes that actually stick. I will be there to pick you up when the motivation dips, because it will. That's not weakness. That's the process.
